Over the weekend, the nation’s most famous — or at least its most internet-praised — barbecue joint popped up in San Francisco, as Austin cult hit Franklin Barbecue dished out brisket and links in the Dogpatch’s Smokestack.
Aaron Franklin, who just won a James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southwest, was in town promoting his new cookbook. On both Saturday and Sunday, he dished out a plate of barbecue to select meat lovers who were able to snag one of the elusive $70 tickets (apparently lowered from the original $130). The brisket, ribs, sausage, potato salad and slaw were flowing, as you can see from the photos above.
If you missed the event, don’t fret: Franklin will be reading from his book at Omnivore Books in Noe Valley tonight (5/11) at 6:30pm — and it’s free.
